Karachi: In view of the increasing attacks on Hindu temples in Sindh, Pakistan, the government has increased security. Government sources say that more than 400 Hindu policemen have been deployed to protect the temples of Sindh.



Incidents of attacks on Hindu temples have increased in Pakistan in the recent past. In just 48 hours, two temples in Pakistan have been targeted by attackers. The assailants attacked a Hindu temple in Kashmore with a rocket launcher on Sunday morning and also fired indiscriminately at the houses of the Hindu community around the temple.

Bulldozers run over 150-year-old temple in Karachi

The people of Karachi reported that on the night of 14 July some people brought bulldozers and destroyed the entire temple from inside except for the outer walls and main gate of Mari Mata Temple. According to the report of Pakistani news paper Dawn, when the temple was being demolished, the police was deployed to provide security to those who broke the temple.

Statues were vandalized in 2022 as well

This Mari Mata Mandir is situated on Mukhi Chohitram Road. From which the Soldier Bazar police post is also at a short distance. According to media reports, the temple land has been sold to a shopping plaza promoter for Rs 7 crore. That is why the temple was demolished. In June 2022 also, the idols of deities were broken in the Mari Mata temple.

There are also stories of having a treasure in the courtyard of the temple.

Ram Nath, the priest of Shri Panch Mukhi Hanuman Temple, told that the temple of Mari Mata was built 150 years ago in about 400 to 500 square yards. The stories of the old treasure being buried in its courtyard are also popular.

The management of Mari Mata Temple was with the Madrasi Hindu community. They say that the temple was very old and could collapse anytime. That's why we temporarily shifted most of the idols to another place. We had thought that the idols would be put back at their place only after the new temple was built.

On the other hand, the Human Rights Commission has expressed concern over the hostage taking of thirty Hindu women and children by a criminal gang in Sindh province of Pakistan. Also raised questions on the deteriorating law and order situation in Kashmore and Ghotki districts of Sindh. The commission said that the Sindh Home Department should investigate the attacks on Hindu temples.
