All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi expressed regret on Saturday over the central government's order to confer Bharat Ratna on senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani. He said that the graves of the Indians who lost their lives are there. And there is nothing else but violence in the Ram Rath Yatra.

Owaisi shared a map on Twitter showing the route of the 1990 Ram Rath Yatra and wrote, "LK Advani deserves #BharatRatna. Remember the Indians who lost their lives in violence." Later, he said that these are nothing but stairs.

Lal Krishna Advani is considered a prominent leader of the BJP and played an important role in bringing the party to national prominence with his Rath Yatra in 1990, advocating the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Advani had started the 'Rath Yatra' from Somnath in UP to Ayodhya in 1990 for the construction of the Ram temple, but his journey was stopped in Bihar when he was arrested in Samastipur on the orders of the then Lalu Yadav government. In 1992, Kar Sevaks demolished the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, sparking riots across the country.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had announced that Advani would be honored with the Bharat Ratna. After this, President Draupadi Murmu expressed happiness over Advani being honored with the Bharat Ratna and said that his contribution to the development of the country is unforgettable.

Advani also welcomed the honor, saying it was a tribute not only to him as a person but also to his ideals and principles.

The honor comes days after the inauguration of the newly constructed Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, in which Lal Krishna Advani played a key role. He said in his statement that he is accepting this honor not just as an individual but for his lifetime contribution.
